Te Ruma o Te Ra
3 - 4 years old
Learning through play is a great way for children to develop relationships, learn alongside others and understand their place in the world. Children in Te Ruma o te Ra enjoy their independence and are encouraged to explore their own ideas and working theories through free play. The environment is resourced and set up to support aspirations set out by parents and are often reflective of children’s interests and challenges. Being flexible enables educators to support and cater to all of the different learning stages of our children and ensure they are developing positive attitudes to learning. Our cultural diversity is reflective of the community around us and is celebrated using first languages and cultural events with which we encourage parent and whanau participation. Teachers pride their practice on being respectful and responsive to children’s needs and use documentation about children’s learning to share and illustrate the many achievements that children have whilst they are here. Our hope is that when children leave our room, they have confidence in their abilities and trust that they have an important role to play in the world around them.
