Children enjoy being a part of an environment where they are respected as capable and competent individuals who can make their own choices and use their voices to direct their experiences in our room knowing that their voice is valued here. Our resources and open ended learning experiences provoke a sense of curiosity as Kaiako are acutely aware that the environment we create plays a vital role in facilitating learning. Our setting supports the development of healthy relationships between children, teachers, parents and whanau, where we all collaborate and work together to implement a challenging learning curriculum for our tamariki. This emphasises our value of respectful relationships as children learn to develop empathy for others as well as taking responsibility for the wellbeing of themselves and of others. It also creates a platform for children to develop their social-emotional competencies and explore effective ways of communicating, supporting skills necessary for life beyond the centre. The beginning stages of being school ready.
